Details of the College Infrastructure​

The Govt. of Uttar Pradesh founded Dr. Pitambar Dutt Barthwal Himalayan Govt. P.G.College, Kotdwar in July 1971 with just Bachelor of Arts and science Course. With 12 subjects (Hindi, English, Sanskrit, History, Geography, Poltical Science, Economics,Philosophy chemistry, Physics, Biology, Maths, Botany, Zoology). Since then the college has gone through many changes and developments to meet the requirements of the youth of this region. College get the status of PG in 1974-1975. B.Ed course was started in 1979-80. The expansion and developments of the college has taken place within the broader guidelines of the National Education Policy and the plans of the Educational developments of the state.Since 1999-2000 ,a study centre of Indira Gandhi  National open university (IGNOU) is established in the college campus..From the year 2001-2002,the facility of study in the subjects of Home science,  and Sociology at the post graduate level  were started.However ,Music in P.G level receved approval from the uttrakhand Government in the year 2013-2014.Apart from this UOU centre is also running from the year 2011-12.The Uttrakhand government has chosen to develop as a special college from the session 2005-06.Under this scheme ,BSc Biotechnology has been started as a separate faculty .From the session 2008-09 ,self financed B.Ed course was started with alloted total of 100 seats .From the year 2021-22 MSc Biotech and Graduate course in   BJMC has given approval from the Uttrakhand Govt. so that student get the opportunities to study the  professional courses in the same town,Kotdwar.

Besides this ,for sports facilities the college has a separate courtyard,basket ball court,badminton court and a gymnasium with various body building machinaries for physical development.The college has NCC unit (160 students),for the voluntry services their is Rovers-Rangers and NSS having their separate units. From the year 2022-23 the college has been selected as the model college for research and development by the uttrakhand government.
